Abstract

These studies provide direct evidence that O-glycosylation pathways play a role in the regulation of cell growth through apoptosis and proliferation pathways. This was based on novel synthetic probes (O-glycosides, 2-azido-O glycosides and C-glycosides) based on GalNAc which were tested in the human colorectal cancer cell lines. Analysis (of intracellular aryl-glycan products) was achieved by MALDI and electrospray mass spectroscopy and glycosylation patterns for each inhibitor were identified
