Abstract
On seeing crossings: Dover/Calais is a collaborative visual essay by nine people from Migration Mobilities Bristol and Multiple Mobilities Research Cluster, New York. The contributors have been working on questions relating to migration and mobility in a variety of contexts; we went together to Dover and Calais. Our collaboration thus emerges from the middle of ongoing conversations, freezing somewhat arbitrarily our multidirectional exchanges. Each contributor was asked to create an image/text piece in which they were free to approach the site from any angle. The ambition of the project is to allow different approaches to sit together disrupting presumptions about contemporary border politics.
