Abstract
Alternatives to traditional 'wet' laboratory practical sessions are required as increasing student numbers puts pressure on laboratory time and space. At the University of Bristol, rises in student numbers on our first and second year BSc Pharmacology units have necessitated the introduction of double teaching for labs and movement of some practicals to online-only. These are integrated with our online laboratory manual, eBiolabs (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/ebiolabs/) which already provides experimental information and pre- and post-lab quizzes. However, in order to ensure that students are provided with effective feedback on these practicals we are also trialling additional feedback using post-practical drop-in sessions and screencasts.
