Abstract

The palladium-catalyzed ortho-arylation of diethylcarbamate-protected estrone and estriol with aryl iodides, gives the 2-arylated analogues. Subsequent removal of the carbamate directing group furnishes 2-arylated estrone, estradiol or estriol depending on the method used.
