Photon-number-resolving detectors integrated in GaAs waveguide

Abstract

We demonstrate the integration of a new and scalable photon-number- resolving detector (PNRD) based on a spatially multiplexed array of superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SSPDs) connected in series. The waveguide photon number resolving detectors (WPNR) show a device quantum efficiency of 24% and can discriminate between 0-4 photons.
