Abstract

In this paper, it is intended to review briefly the work in pilot tone SSB systems for mobile radio and to show that of the contending systems only tone-above-band (TAB) and phaselocked transparent tone-in-band (TTIB SSB have the flexibility to operate at frequencies up to 1 GHz with techniques such as feedforward signal regeneration (FFSR). The use of a phaselocked TTIB system will be shown to be capable of transmitting and receiving CPSK (coherent PSK) data with low-error rate in the fading environment
