Abstract
This article examines how poem-division can sometimes be determined in Sappho’s papyrus fragments even when the left-hand margin of the papyrus is missing and there are therefore no corônides to guide us, by paying careful attention to language and style. Six instances are examined, from Books 1, 4, and 5 of Sappho’s ancient edition, and a division is advocated in each case.
