Abstract

The sliding window decorrelating algorithm (SLWA) for asynchronous multiuser (MU) DS-CDMA systems was proposed and described by Wijayasuriya et al. (see ibid., vol.28, no.17, p.1546-8, 1992) The near-far (NF) resistance of the algorithm was established, and its performance evaluated in single path fading channels. Here the authors propose a RAKE-SLWA receiver architecture for an urban mobile radio environment. This architecture alleviates the requirement for complex power control strategies and offers large capacity improvements over the conventional receiver. A positioning strategy is also identified for decorrelating solutions in DS-CDMA mobile radio
