Abstract
Results for the gust response of the FFAST wing calculated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and reduced order models (ROM) constructed using the eigensystem realisation algorithm (ERA) are presented. For larger amplitude gusts in the transonic regime, the response exhibits nonlinearity due to shock motion. This is not captured well by the standard ERA ROM presented here. In addition to the standard ERA, a corrected version is described which make use of nonlinear steady state solutions. This approach gives more accurate results for the large amplitude gusts, which exhibit nonlinearity.
