Abstract
This study identifies a measurement technique to provide an accurate assessment of the achievable gain of reflective structures. As an example, an 8x4 antenna array that could be configured as a Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface is analyzed and is shown to produce a gain of 18.3dBi at 3.5GHz. Integrating this with path loss then shows how to evaluate the signal gain advantage of using a reflective surface to overcome blockage /shadowing that would be present in a practical environment.
