Abstract
Comments on Beuze v Belgium (71409/10) (ECtHR) on whether a defendant's murder trial was rendered unfair in breach of ECHR art.6 by a refusal to allow a lawyer to be present throughout his questioning. Considers the decision's consistency with previous cases and the extent to which the court's recognition of limitations on the right of access to a lawyer may halt widespread reform across the Member States.
