Sliced and diced: board game cafes as cultural intermediaries

    Abstract

    The ongoing resurgence of board games involves and is driven by their expansion from traditional private environments into the urban public scene formed by cafes, pubs and other “third places”. I explore the role of board game cafes in the popularization and mainstreaming of board game consumption in the UK.
