Abstract
Inspired by Antonio Negri’s “constituent power” and an interest in thinking past the Euro-centric periodizations of modernity that have often functioned as a justification for modern slavery, this essay pairs Carl Schmitt’s 1922 _Political Theology_ with the story of Judith to suggest alternative formations of sovereignty in which aesthetics grounds conditions of political equity.
