Abstract

This report presents survey findings examining University of Bristol (UoB) students’ uses of and views on AI technologies in their studies. The survey was part of a research project funded by a Bristol Institute for Learning and Teaching Education Development grant, and the project aimed to support higher education students’ critical consideration of AI technologies in their studies. The survey was the first stage of this research and asked questions related to UoB students’ current usage of AI tools within their studies, their concerns about AI technologies, and their views on student use of AI and related university guidance and support. The survey took place in January 2025 and included multiple choice, Likert scale and short-answer questions. We received responses from 402 student participants spanning all UoB faculties and levels of study.
