Abstract
The 21st century has seen a rapid technological evolution that has profoundly reshaped adult education (AE). The era of passive lectures and static textbooks has shifted, with technology now infusing adult learning (AL) with interactivity, engagement, and personalised approaches (Timotheou et al., 2023). Virtual reality (VR) simulations (Lampropoulos et al., 2022) and gamified platforms (Browne et al., 2014; Landers et al., 2019) are just two examples of the myriad of possibilities technology can offer to enhance AL experiences. However, transforming traditional learning into autodidactic learning remains a challenge given the complexity of AL theory (see Firat, 2023, p. 1). Educators are currently grappling with deploying technology as a dynamic force, in an effort to innovatively shift the traditional learning paradigm. Moreover, creating avenues for adult learners to integrate their lived experiences into conventional classrooms poses challenges, especially amidst traditional instructional requirements. Bridging this gap between conventional teaching strategies and the unique traits of adult learners is vital, particularly in navigating this digital era (Knowles, 1980).
