Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter in a book

Abstract

This chapter is designed to provide an overview of secondary English for student teachers on an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) course. It encourages them to articulate their own understanding of what subject English is and what it does; understand how curriculum policy is a product of its time that informs subject content and influences how the role of English is perceived; and respond to some of the debates around speaking, listening, reading and writing that have been rehearsed over the decades.
