    Abstract

This paper gives the result of a research contract from the European Environment Agency to link two 2010 biodiversity indicators (Species occurrence (butterflies) and nitrogen deposition (as CLE). The paper shows that this is possible only if the added indices such as biomass, population, Species conservation Value Index and Simpson’s Biodiversity Index are used. Species richness does not indicate the effect of nitrogen as species sensitive to nitrogen are replaced by those which are nitrophilic.
