Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter in a book

Abstract

In this chapter we explain the work that was carried out by 17 trainee music teachers from four European countries during the Music Study Group sessions held as part of the Potsdam University Summer School 2022 under the title of Teaching the SDGs – Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship. We explain how the work was planned by the teaching staff who came from five European countries – the chapter authors being two of these – and the rationale behind our choice of overall structure, the approaches to the work and the selection of activities. We include a table illustrating the thematic areas in music education that we felt were most pertinent to the Sustainable Development Goals. The chapter then describes the music sessions and includes students’ views on each.
