Abstract
15.7k length. This is being assessed by two readers. The article attends to the challenges posed by the Council of Florence and other papeal teachings related to the Jews, that draw on Augustine and Aquinas viz. the mosaic rituals are dead and deadening. The argument of the article situates these teachings contextually to argue (a) that they cannot be applied to Judaism as currently understood within more recent magisterial teachings; (b) within this new context, they provide the resources to see these liturgical rituals as valid and enlivening; (c) that some contemporary debates could be resolved in the light of this analysis.
