Abstract

Recognizing the importance of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) for meeting climate targets globally and in the European Union (EU), the European Commission has proposed a certification framework for voluntary CDR. But without urgent improvements in three key areas, it is unlikely to achieve its goals.
