Abstract

Set in Bristol, England, The Place at the Bridge is a new performance of Shakespeare’s sonnets, exploring our relationship to the city and each other through the stories of five contemporary characters. It was performed at Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory from 26th-28th May to a small live audience and with an online livestream. Some of the sonnets are now available to watch as individual videos on a YouTube playlist. In STF’s production, the poems speak not only to eternal themes of love, alienation and desire, but also address urgent questions about who we are and where we love.
