Abstract

The fifth and sixth volumes of the Longman Annotated English Poets edition of Browning's poems comprise his longest single work, The Ring and the Book (1868-9). As with other volumes in the edition, these volumes will contain extensive textual and explanatory notes and a substantial headnote/introduction to the poem, covering the history of composition. biographical context, sources, and reception. Volume 5 contains the headnote and books 1-6 of the poem.
