Abstract

Although several Mendelian genes causing Parkinson's disease are known, these are relevant to only a small proportion of total cases.(1) The significant variation in disease expression (presence, pattern and severity of motor and non-motor features, and progression rates), however, is likely to be influenced by genetic variation (single nucleotide polymorphisms) at several loci.
