Abstract

This paper presents a novel secure transcoding scheme with H.264 compression, whereby only selected parts of the bitstream are encrypted to allow transcoding without decryption. Security comparisons are carried out for three schemes where encryption is applied to only the I frames, DC coefficients or motion vectors. I frame encryption, which provides the best security of the three schemes, is combined with two different transcoding architectures. Simulation results, on the 'Foreman' dataset show a significant performance enhancement in both systems, demonstrating their potential in consumer oriented commercial applications.
