Abstract
This article examines the transformation of the concept of subtraction through the Parmenidean framework set out at the start of Badiou’s inauguration of mathematical ontology. With the end of the Being and Event trilogy, how has this concept changed and what remains of the project? It is argued that the terrain has shifted towards the problem of the same and other indicated by Parmenides fragment three. A theory of diffracted alterities, a Xenoplatonism, therefore follows in The Immanence of Truths, one that relies on the structures of elementary embedding explored in recent set theory.
