Abstract

This panel explores the impact of immersive technologies on contemporary theatre and performance practices and investigates how it reshapes our sense of physicality altogether and produces new dramaturgies and epistemologies. Through a variety of case studies, we investigate the perceptual politics of such acts of immersion and remediation. Given the broad base of knowledge bases required to create such virtual theatres, we also explore the interrelated question of how working in an interdisciplinary practice-as-research setting transforms our approaches to and research practices in academic scholarship.
