The Vision of Black Elk was commissioned by Radio France for Thierry Pécou and Ensemble Variances (Daniela Martin), and prémiered at Festival Presences, Maison de Radio France, Paris on February 11, 2015. The text was adapted by the composer from Black Elk Speaks, the text complied by John G. Neihardt of Black Elk’s vision in 1935 (University of Nebraska Press, 1979/2014). The texts are used with grateful permission from the Neihardt Foundation and Coralie Hughes.
