Dr. Thomas H. Weller, MD, was an American virologist and paediatrician who was jointly awarded the 1954 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Dr. John F. Enders and Dr. Frederick C. Robbins for discovering a method to culture poliovirus in various tissues. The method transformed the field of virology and led to the discovery of many vaccines.
