What is scripture about? Meaning and the Transmission of Christianity

Research output: Contribution to conferenceConference Paper

Abstract

This paper explores the way the fourth century preacher John Chrysostom summarizes and assigns meaning to the gospel of Matthew. It suggests that findings of cognitive science can help us to see that Chrysostom was using summaries and statements of the meaning of Matthew in order to transmit the Christian message successfully and help his audiences gain new understanding of scripture.
