Abstract

This study focuses on the rise and fall of an SME support organisation in the context of dependent development characterised by a dual-economy: on the one hand, a dominant modern sector composed almost entirely of export-oriented subsidiaries of transnational groups and, on the other, a traditional sector, made up largely of microenterprises catering for the local market.
