Abstract

This thesis contains work that describes the synthesis, characterisation and self-assembly of poly(ferrocenyldimethylsilane) (PFDMS) and poly(ferrocenyldimethylgermane) (PFDMG)-containing block copolymers (BCPs). The formation of uniform BCP micelles by homoepitaxial seeded growth of
PFDMS-containing BCPs is well understood, however methods to produce segmented structures with different core chemistries by heteroepitaxial growth are not as well documented. The work in this thesis aims to provide new understanding of the seeded heteroepitaxial growth between PFDMS- and PFDMG-containing polymers in one and two dimensions.
