This thesis presents neutron scattering measurements of spin-density-waves (SDW) in Sr3Ru2O7 and CeAuSb2. Despite the microscopic differences, both compounds have recently been discovered to exhibit field induced SDW order associated with metamagnetism, and appear to host competing instabilities that can be tuned with symmetry breaking fields. In the case of Sr3Ru2O7 the symmetry is broken by the orientation of a magnetic field with respect to different crystallographic axes, in CeAuSb2 an orthorhombic distortion produced by compressive uniaixal stress.
