My research examines international law, climate change and the protection of climate vulnerable Small Island Developing States.

It explores the capacity of international human rights law and state responsibility to provide recourse to justice to climate vulnerable states and communities, taking into account the challenges faced in practice including loss & damage, institutional capacity, and access to justice, to construct a climate justice framework informing future law & policy-making.

I employ a regional case study of the South Pacific, including a series of interviews with key stakeholders from government, UN organisations, NGOs and legal practice conducted while hosted as a visiting researcher by the University of the South Pacific's School of Law in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

My project is jointly supervised by Dr Margherita Pieraccini at the University of Bristol Law School and Professor Katrina Brown at the University of Exeter School of Geography.
