Research interests

I am a post-doctoral fellow funded by the National Institute of Health Research. My research interests are in the field of risk behaviours and interventions to prevent harms associated with these behaviours.

My current research aims to explore the relationship between peers, social networks and alcohol use among young people to inform the development of a school-based intervention. This research has involved evidence synthesis to examine the effectiveness of peer-based interventions, and qualitative research to explore young people’s views around the role of peers in relation to alcohol use behaviour. I am also leading a Cochrane systematic review which examines the effectiveness of individual-, family- and school-level interventions for preventing multiple risk behaviours in young people.

My previous research has included investigation of the role of opiate substitution treatment in preventing HIV and Hepatitis C among people who inject drugs.
