Research interests

Patrick has and continues to collaborate widely with colleagues from the University of Bristol, Imperial College London, University College London, Public Health England, Europe, Australia and the United States of America. His main research interests are 1) the natural history, epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of chlamydia and 2) the aetiology, diagnosis and management of non-gonococcal urethritis. As an academic clinician his focus has been in applying evidence based medicine and new technologies in order to improve patient care and in discontinuing the use of azithromycin 1 g to treat non-gonococcal urethritis and Mycoplasma genitalium. He has a particular specialist interest in managing the chronic pelvic pain syndrome in men.
